I still take pictures!

I just have been busy. Here are a couple pics from when Don and I went on a nature walk a couple months ago. The first one, Don is deep in thought. Or having a stare down with a bird, either one.





And then we were lucky enough to be able to take our nieces and nephews to the park one weekend we watched them.

Happy New Year! I don't have any pictures from the New Year, but I have some I haven't put up.












Hopefully with the days now getting longer, I'll be able to take more pictures! It just was hard to take pictures outside (where I love taking pics) when it's dark at quittin' time.

Around the house

Slowly learning what I can, when I can. So I took pictures of what I come home to everyday.

Big city

I ventured out away from just around my house for some practice. My husband and I headed to downtown Houston for a little walk around.

Got my DSLR!

After getting frustrated with my dad's old Yashica, I decided to really try to save for my camera. And just last night, purchased a used Nikon D40. I'm so excited to learn how to do this!




















I've got some long ways to go, but I'm glad to finally have something to learn on.














I just thought I'd include some of my favorite subjects.

The first one

I've decided I needed a hobby. With some inspirations, and careful thought, I realized I should give photography a try.

I had always loved taking pictures, with my favorite subject being my oldest cat :)

While trying to find something to do when we were without power for a little bit after Hurricane Ike (we were one of few very lucky ones to only be without for 12 hours), I dug out my dad's old Yashica Electro 35 he bought on his way home from Vietnam in 1970. Only the past week and a half was when I started taking some pictures, and getting used to manual focus, and the 2 different lenses. I took the first roll of film in to get developed. I'm also getting my prints on CD (good thing for that option, makes it tons easier to digitize prints). So hopefully from that first roll, I'll have some decent, post worthy pictures from it.

So, this is the start. I hope to eventually get a DSLR, and also learn and improve my skills in this field.
